This is one of those times when I started doing something but ended up with something I like better. I wanted to do a zombie for the Disgusting prompt and I think I didn’t just do something disgusting but something also disturbing.
Most people are already tired of zombies, thanks to The Walking Dead and the multitude of subpar zombie movies and TV shows. But I’m still a big fan of the genre.
The concept of zombies or an infection taking over the world is not that too far off from the happenings of 2020. In a way, this year, particularly the lockdown months, is a low-budget preview of the zombie apocalypse. At the same time, these times make the idea of a zombie apocalypse less special and jarring, which in itself is a disturbing thought.
The end of the world has been normalized.
